Het "PROgramme for the Development of scientific EXperiments" (PRODEX) is een programma van de European Space Agency (ESA) waaraan België, als Lidstaat van ESA, deelneemt sinds juni 1988.
De doelstelling van PRODEX is het bieden van (co)financiering voor de ontwikkeling en exploitatie van wetenschappelijke instrumenten en experimenten in het kader van de ruimtevaartprogramma’s van ESA, zowel als van andere ruimtevaartinstellingen.
PRODEX bestrijkt drie wetenschappelijke domeinen: Medisch-biologisch Onderzoek en Fysische Wetenschappen in de Ruimte, Aardobservatie en Ruimtewetenschappen.
Een van de belangrijkste doelstellingen van PRODEX is de samenwerking te versterken tussen wetenschappelijke instellingen en de industrie binnen ieder deelnemend land.
Technologische ontwikkelingen zonder gerelateerde wetenschappelijke exploitatie activiteiten binnen PRODEX kunnen niet gesteund worden.
