Research project DR/18 (Research action DR)
The objective of the study is to evaluate the potential impact of regular cannabis use. Within the context of this study , medical and psychosocial check up will be performed.
To distinguish the effects of cannabis use and other variables, susceptible to have influence on the results , the cannabis group will be compared to 2 control groups.
A group of smokers (tobacco) who also occasionally drink alcohol. A group of occasional drinkers (alcohol) who doesn’t smoke tobacco.
After six months, we will perform a second check up and the results will be compared again.
For each group we will compare the first check up with the second one. An analysis of each test will also be done in every group for every check up. There should be a follow-up of the subjects beyond the second check up.
This research is realised in Belgium, but will be supervised by a scientific comity of international experts. They will contribute to the realisation of the research protocol until the interpretation of the results, and the results diffusion in January 2006 at Brussels.
