The objective of this program is to promote scientific research of health hazards linked with:
- the use of new and existing technologies, especially in the occupational and the environmental fields;
- food.
This impulse programme aims to constitute the necessary scientific basis for the formulation of recommendations at a national and international level (standards, good practices, etc.) and also for the public information about those health hazards.
The following research themes have been identified:
- Health hazards linked with work place and environment:
* biological survey of the human populations;
* databases in the field of health hazards: feasability studies;
* risks of overload in the working environment.
- Health hazards linked with food:
* microbiological contamination,
* chemical contamination (due to environmental pollution),
* safety of novel foods,
* alimentary allergies and intolerances,
* development of a Belgian food composition table and study of correlations with some diseases.
