1. To explore, on the basis of research projects, the field related to the analysis and control of international conflicts and the role that Belgian scientific research can play in this respect;
2. to apply the research potential currently available in Belgium to the analysis and assessment of research in the field of international conflicts, to study how this research can contribute to political choices and examine the role of data bases, existing or to be created;
3. to stimulate collaboration between institutions and associations that are already active in this area, with a view to future collaboration in the framework of the future Institute for the Study of Peace and Security.
The objectives will be reached through a set of eleven research projects, each spanning about one year, and through the publication of the final reports of these projects.
