| Description nl | Van voedingsfactoren is aangetoond dat ze de immuniteit van de gastheer diepgaand beïnvloeden, hetzij door direct in te werken op immuuncellen, hetzij door indirect de darmflora te beïnvloeden. Onlangs is aangetoond dat voedingsfactoren zowel anti-tumorimmuniteit als immunotherapie kunnen beïnvloeden. Op basis van deze bevindingen zullen we veranderingen in de microbiota en immuunresponsen analyseren met betrekking tot verschillende diëten in de context van kanker. Onze hypothese is dat de voorgestelde studie door voeding geïnduceerde microbiële kenmerken zal blootleggen die anti-tumorimmuniteit bevorderen en daardoor nieuwe benaderingen kunnen leiden voor het verbeteren van kankerimmunotherapie.

| Description en | Dietary factors have been shown to profoundly shape host immunity either by directly acting on immune cells or by indirectly affecting the gut microbiota. It was recently demonstrated that dietary factors could impact anti-tumor immunity as well as immunotherapy. Based on these findings, we will analyse alterations in gut microbiota and immune responses in respect to different diets in the context of cancer. We hypothesize that the proposed study will uncover diet-induced microbial signatures that promote anti-tumor immunity and thereby might lead to novel approaches for improving cancer immunotherapy.
