| Description nl | Er is een kritische verschuiving ontstaan van feitelijke architectuur naar een architectuur dat een bewustzijn opwekt, waarbij het uitbouwen van netwerken een net zo belangrijk element is als de ‘objecten’ in architectuur zelf. “Netwerk praktijken” die in de laatste twee decennia op het gebied van ruimtelijk ontwerp ontstonden, kunnen kort worden omschreven als een verstandig kader voor ontwikkeling in de stedelijke context, die op die manier werken aan een interdisciplinair collectief van autonome praktijken die zich verenigen omtrent een gedeelde visie en een gemeenschappelijk platform, gebruik makend van hun vaardigheden om zo een unieke waardepropositie te creëren. De hedendaagse genetwerkte architect neemt de rol op zich als een publiek intellectueel, die een medium medieert en articuleert om zo een omgeving te bouwen, gebruik makend van “networked intelligence”, en het opstellen van “spatial agency” in projecten om op die manier te komen tot continue co-creatieve processen. In deze context beoogt dit onderzoek inzicht te krijgen in de affordances and de sociaal ruimtelijke impact van netwerk praktijken met behulp van analytische en actie-onderzoek gebaseerde methoden bouwend op de casus: LabNorth; revitaliseren van het Noordelijk district in Brussel.

| Description en | There has been a critical shift from architecture as fact to architecture as matter of concern, in which the building of networks are as significant as the objects of architecture. “Networked practices” which emerged in the field of spatial design in the last two decades can be briefly described as a sensible framework for the development of the urban environment which works on interdisciplinary collective of autonomous practices uniting around a shared vision and a common platform, leveraging their skill sets to create a more unique value proposition. The networked architect of today acts as a public intellectual mediating and articulating a medium in order to build an environment, making use of networked intelligence, and set the spatial agency in the projects to arrive at continuous co-creative processes. In this context, this research aims to understand the affordances and socio-spatial impact of networked practices using a triangulation of analytic and action-research based methods focusing to the case of LabNorth’s revitalisation of the North District, in Brussels.
