| Description nl | Dit strategische institutionele partnerschap brengt de onderzoekscapaciteit en expertise bij deUniversity of California at Berkeley (UCB) en de Universiteit Gent samen om interdisciplinaire antwoorden op wereldwijde uitdagingen te verkennen en te testen. Dit partnerschap bouwt voort op de legitimiteit die alle partners hebben bewezen door hun uitstekende onderzoek en technische samenwerking met de publieke en private sector en internationale organisaties,2inclusief via drie samenwerkingscentra van de Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie. Dit partnerschap maakt gebruik van de complementaire onderzoekskrachten in de twee academische gemeenschappen om een U+200BU+200Bkwalitatief hoogstaand onderzoeksprogramma te leveren en duurzame en impactvolle wetenschappelijke en real-world resultaten te bieden. Dit interdisciplinaire partnerschap conceptualiseert zijn werk op drie thematische gebieden die aansluiten bij het Strategisch Onderzoeksplan 2018-2023 van de Universiteit van Toronto en het Onderzoeksbeleidplan Universiteit Gent 2017-2021: gezondheidsgelijkheid en impact, eenentwintigste-eeuws burgerschap en duurzame systemen. De eerste discussies in de onderzoeksworkshop zullen rond deze aandachtspunten draaien. De leden van het partnerschap ontwikkelen momenteel een actieplan 2020, dat een werkdocument zal worden waarin de geplande samenwerkingsactiviteiten van het partnerschap in 2020 worden uiteengezet; het eerste ontwerp is half oktober 2019 beschikbaar.

| Description en | This strategic institutional partnership converges the research capacity and expertise at the University of California at Berkeley (UCB) and Ghent University to explore and test interdisciplinary responses to global chal-lenges. This partnership builds on the legitimacy that all partners evidenced by their research excel-lence and technical cooperation with the public and private sectors, and international organizations,2including through three World Health Organization Collaborating Centres. This partnership lever-ages the complementary research strengths in the two academic communities to deliver a high-qual-ity program of research and offer sustained and high-impact scientific and real-world outcomes. This interdisciplinary partnership conceptualizes its work in three thematic areas that align with the University of TorontoU+2019s Strategic Research Plan 2018-2023 and the Ghent UniversityU+2019s Research Policy Plan 2017-2021: health equity & impact, twenty-first century citizenship, and sustainable systems. The kick-off research workshop discussions will center around these focal points. The members of the partnership are currently developing a 2020 action plan, which will be a working document outlining the partnershipU+2019s planned collaborative activities in 2020; the first draft will be available in mid-October 2019.
