| Description nl | Dit project beoogt om Johannes Duns Scotus in zijn historische,theologische, religieuze context te lezen, en in het licht van zijnvorming, dit om te vermijden dat zijn werk gedecontextualiseerdwordt en misbegrepen, iets wat in het verleden ertoe geleid heeft datScotus en zijn werk niet gewaardeerd werden. Mijn hypothese is datde Doctor Subtilis wellicht meest accuraat begrepen wordt in zijneigen context, namelijk als een middeleeuwse Franciscaansegeleerde van Oxford, een doctor Franciscanus. Dit project zal dusScotus’ christologie onderzoeken in het licht van het Franciscaansecharisma en de Franciscaanse intellectuele traditie. Het zal defilosofisch-theologische fundering van Scotus’ denken nagaan,namelijk de doctrines van univociteit en van het primaatschap vanChristus. De christologie van Scotus zal vergeleken worden met hetFranciscaanse charisma en de christologieën in de voorafgaandeFranciscaanse intellectuele traditie. Vervolgens zullen detheologische implicaties van Scotus’ christologie onderzocht worden,betreffende zijn doctrine van haecceitas (“ditheid”, dit wil zeggen, zijndoctrine van individuering) alsook zijn Mariologie en zijn theologievan de liefde, in het bijzonder de liefde tussen God en mens, meteen specifieke aandacht voor zijn mystieke theologie (iets waarmeeScotus weinig in verband gebracht wordt).

| Description en | This project intends to read John Duns Scotus in his historical,theological, religious and formative context, in order that his work notbe decontextualized and misunderstood, which, in the past, hascaused Scotus and his work to be vilified. My hypothesis is that theSubtle Doctor is perhaps understood more accurately in his context,as a medieval Oxonian Franciscan, as a Franciscan Doctor. Thisproject will thus research Scotus’ Christology in the light of theFranciscan Charism and Intellectual Tradition, and will explore thephilosophical-theological foundation of Scotus’ thought, that is, thedoctrines of Univocity and the Primacy of Christ. Scotus’ Christologywill be compared with the Franciscan Charism, and the Christologiesof the preceding Franciscan Intellectual Tradition, such that theFranciscanism of Scotus’ Christology can be examined. Further, thetheological implications of Scotus’ Christology will be explored,regarding his doctrine of haecceitas (thisness his doctrine onindividuation), as well as his Mariology and his theology on love,especially with reference to the love between God and humanity,and, uniquely, with reference to mystical theology, something withwhich Scotus is not usually associated. I aim critically to investigatethe Franciscanism of Scotus’ Christology, as well as critically toexamine the theological implications of these doctrines, understoodcontextually.
