Arabsat launches multicontinental managed satellite services on neXat platform

31/05/2024 - On 23rd May 2024 (the final day of the CABSAT 2024 worldwide event), major satellite operator Arabsat has signed a cooperation agreement with the Belgian services and technology provider neXat. Thanks to this agreement, Arabsat will be able to manage several hubs and its entire satellite communications network through a single application provided by neXat.

Arabsat will use the services offered by neXat's Operation & Business Support Systems (OSS-BSS) platform, via an innovative Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) business model. This will help Arabsat provide connectivity services to a variety of sectors, including government, enterprise and consumer, across all geographic markets covered by Arabsat's satellites. The neXat platform will serve as the main orchestration tool to manage all Arabsat’s communications operations and services.

neXat is a satellite services and solutions provider based in Brussels, Belgium, founded in 2011 by industry experts. Its mission is to facilitate connectivity and the satellite industry's mission at all levels - from network management to improving teleport operations.

neXat's virtualized OSS/BSS platform redefines satellite communications management, making it simpler, fully secure and cost-effective for operators in a satellite communication industry in constant motion.

In addition to serving satellite, teleport and hub operators, neXat offers governments, NGOs, enterprises, Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and industries, including maritime, a suite of network solutions including connectivity services and VNO (Virtual Network Operator) management tools. The global service offering on the neXat platform covers the C, Ku and Ka bands.

neXat will provide a customized version of its OSS-BSS suite to meet Arabsat's needs. The partnership neXat-Arabsat will constantly adapt to changes in the satellite industry environment, to enable Arabsat to integrate new virtualized hub solutions arriving on the market, and be compatible with MEF or TM Forum open standards.

The neXat platform original developments and further adaptions to the needs of operators, such as Arabsat, is co-financed by Belspo for several million euros, and managed by the European Space Agency (ESA), through the “Service Aggregation Platform (SAP)” R&D project, as part of ESA's ARTES (Advance Research in Telecommunication Systems) program
