Belgium has a long tradition of research in Antarctica. Already in 1897 with the wintering of The Belgica (375 days). Then, 50 years later with the King Baudouin base, which welcomed various expeditions for a decade. Last February, our country equipped itself with a brand new tool: the Princess Elisabeth base, the first “zero emission” station.
