Outre les programmes de recherche pluriannuels, BELSPO finance également un certain nombre d'initiatives prioritaires de recherche d'impulsion en soutien à la politique fédérale.
Une grande partie de ces actions d’impulsion pour la période 2021-2026 est financée par le plan de Redémarrage et de Transition (PRT), l'un des trois volets du plan de relance et d'investissement du gouvernement fédéral. L'objectif de ce plan est d'oxygéner notre économie et d'opérer la transition vers une société durable et numérique dans le contexte de la pandémie.
Dans le cadre du PRT 45,2 M€ ont été alloués à la Politique scientifique fédérale pour soutenir la recherche. Avec ce financement, le gouvernement fédéral ouvre la voie au développement de solutions innovantes aux défis sociétaux actuels et futurs et permet à la Politique scientifique fédérale de continuer à jouer son rôle en contribuant à la prise de décision et en renforçant la capacité de recherche des Etablissements scientifiques fédéraux (ESF).
Fin 2021, BELSPO a assuré le financement d'un certain nombre d'initiatives prioritaires de recherche d'impulsion en soutien à la politique fédérale:
Recherche autour de la restitution du patrimoine culturel acquis pendant la période coloniale belge (MRAC)
Projet Métis, centré sur le rôle des autorités civiles et ecclésiastiques dans le traitement des métis d'origine coloniale belge (AGR)
Etude de faisabilité pour la mise en place d'un centre d'excellence pour le barcoding d'organismes et de tissus pertinents pour les politiques (IRSNB et MRAC)
Projet de développement d'un Hydrogen Test Facility for scientific and applied research, capable d'accueillir les diverses installations nécessaires pour effectuer des tests expérimentaux à grande échelle des technologies de l'hydrogène (IVK)
Dans le courant de l'année 2022, d'autres actions d'impulsion seront lancées dans le cadre du Plan de Redémarrage et de Transition (PRT), l'un des trois volets du plan de relance et d'investissement du gouvernement fédéral.
