Research project CC/001 (Research action CC)
The bacteria collection BCCM/LMG contains around 15,000 strains, including plant-associated and phytopathogenic bacteria, bacteria of medical and veterinary importance, marine bacteria and various groups of biotechnological importance such as lactic acid and acetic acid bacteria, nitrogen fixers, clostridia, bacilli and streptomycetes.
The bacteria collection BCCM/LMG forms part of a consortium of service-providing collections, the Belgian Co-ordinated Collections of Micro-organisms, which also includes the biomedical fungi/yeasts collection BCCM/IHEM, the (agro)industrial fungi/yeasts collection BCCM/MUCL and the plasmids collection BCCM/LMBP.
