Research project DB/DD/033 (Research action DB)
The project's general objective is to identify, analyse, and provide access to federal socio-economic databases pertinent to understanding poverty situations and exclusion processes in Belgium.
The databases concerned are of two kinds:
- databases within the other projects of the present programme: labour market data interface, socio-economic and demographic panel study of Belgian households, etc.
- other databases of an administrative nature, as yet unexplored as to their usefulness in studying poverty and social exclusion.
The concrete objectives are:
- to apply the concepts of poverty and social exclusion to a series of social areas for which data are collected at federal level, such as the labour market, income levels, income distribution and origin, expenditure and models thereof, social infrastructure, health, the law,
- to determine the nature of relationships between the various areas;
- to draft guidelines helping to clarify the "poverty and social exclusion" approach when collecting data in the future;
- to establish a platform of experts from the scientific, political, and administrative spheres involved in the relevant problems, in support of initiatives.
