Research project NO/B/004 (Research action NO)
1) To contribute to the implementation of harmonized methods for measuring friction at the European level, in liaison with the CEN/TC227/WG5 "Road Surface Characteristics" group and in accord with the position stated by FERRL (Forum of European Road Research Laboratories) on conclusion of a workshop in Paris on 30 and 31 March 1995.
2) Establishing a proposed standard defining a European Friction Index (EFI) for submission to CEN/TC227/WG5.
3) Developing detailed calibration procedures (with regard to EFI) for the equipments which are used in Europe to measure slickness and texture.
