Genetic engineering of rice and leguminous plants; flower and root development of plants; molecular genetics of Gram-positive bacteria; gene expression by in situ hybridization and immunocytochemical techniques; symbiosis between Rhizobium and leguminous plants; genome organization and gene mapping in Arabidopsis thaliana; secondary metabolites of plants; stress tolerance; protein chemistry; cloning and characterization of genes involved in ethylene biosynthesis in higher plants; Rhodococcus plant interaction.
