Research project SS/D5/06 (Research action SS)
Current policy is to promote extramural care due to both a lack of intramural capacity and the cost-saving aspect. With the exception of various new forms of care, such as day centres, the family remains the central point of reference for many elderly people.
This study is targeted at the family and especially at the children of elderly couples. Who takes care of his or her parents to the limit of what is possible? How does care work? What is the impact of caring for an elderly father or mother on the family in question and especially on the child(ren) providing the care?
