The six key thematic areas of the BRAIN-be framework programme were identified in relation to the scientific potential of the FWIs and the areas of competence of the federal departments, in order to stimulate collaboration within the Belgian scientific community, in synergy with European and international research agendas.
Since some themes are also being dealt with in other federal science policy programmes/actions, care will be taken to ensure that the aims of the financed research are complementary.
The framework programme BRAIN-BE is structured around 6 thematic areas:
