Academia Belgica

Since its foundation it has been the aim of Academia Belgica to improve Italian-Belgian scientific and cultural relations. The Academia Belgica works together with the Belgian Historical Institute in Rome and the Princes Marie-José Foundation.

The Academia Belgica does this by offering accommodation to Belgian researchers or artists who come to Italy to complete their work and by presenting high-level Belgian art and scientific achievements to the Italian public. The Academia Belgica, has become a unique space for research, creation, collaboration and promotion in the heart of Rome.

The Academia is a meeting place for the Belgian, Italian and foreign academic circles in Rome. It regularly receives colloquia in the context of the cultural agreement signed by Italy with the French Community and the Flemish community.

Concerts, exhibitions and lectures are regularly organized at the Academia to present high-quality Belgian cultural, scientific or artistic achievements to the Roman public. These performances are usually organized in collaboration with conservatories, universities and Belgian cultural institutions.

Each year, the Belgian Science Policy gives funding representing the intervention of Belgium to various education related institutions - public or private, Belgian or foreign.
Given the nature and the national or international missions of these institutions, the subsidies or credits continue to be borne by the federal budget.
