Earth Observation for Everyone

The Belgian Earth Observation site , was developed by the Belgian Science Policy Office within the framework of the 'Support and Promotion' activities of STEREO, the national research programme for Earth Observation.

Within its various sections, the site offers access to a series of educational or general public resources relating to Earth observation from space.
In the section 'What is Earth Observation', you will find:

• The tutorial 'Understanding Remote sensing' which explains the whole chain from electromagnetic radiation to useful information: how satellite images are recorded, which techniques are used to process the signals, what information can be extracted;
• An overview of the characteristics of the satellites and sensors supported by Belgium ;
• A glossary of remote sensing terms.

 The 'Media library' section allows you to discover, among other things:

• The exhibitions and posters created by the STEREO team;
• Webstories explaining why and how research projects funded by the STEREO programme are carried out;
• Commented satellite images ;
• All STEREO programme publications .
