Objectives:

This phase of the programme is part of the Sustainable Development Programme and was set up in compliance with the objectives formulated by the European Commission for research and application relating to satellite data within the context of sustainable development.
It aims to:

- anchor the methods and results of earlier phases within the community of end users (namely scientists, the public administration and the private sector);
- adapt or supplement methods and techniques:
. to meet the needs of research,
. to be integrated in decision-making support systems,
. to permit the transfer of technology,
. support the various opportunities offered by newly developed sensors.

Description:

The application themes are:

- Global Change,
- Management of natural resources,
- Natural hazards,
- Sustainable development of developing countries,
- Trans-sectoral support measures (quality control and warning and monitoring systems).
