The BELSPO DIGIT-04 programme (2019-2024) aims to support the digitization of the huge Belgium heritage patrimony, which resides in the federal museums, libraries, research institutes and archives.
Why is this important?
DIGIT-04 stimulates maximum synergiesbetween the 10 different Federal Scientific Institutions and the Royal Belgian Film Archives (CINEMATEK) . This is done by, amongst other things, streamlining common digitizing activities within these institutions and the sharing of knowledge, equipment, infrastructures and resources.
Preserving Belgium's rich cultural and scientific heritage and disclosing those valuable assets for researchers and the general public is important.
DIGIT, the Digitization Programme of the Belgian Science Policy (BELSPO), aims to support the Belgian federal museums, libraries and archives with the digitization of their cultural and scientific patrimony.
BELSPO, with its 10 Federal Scientific Institutions , offers Belgian scientists an exceptional framework and toolset for their research activities. Their collections attract more than 1.2 million visitors per year. These 10 institutions, together with the Royal Belgian Film Archive (CINEMATEK) are the primary content partners of the DIGIT programme.
