Description :

The networking through the platform is an opportunity for continuation of the research activities between the two collaborative institutes. Dr. Ghosh (Indian partner) got his Ph.D. degree under the guidance of Dr. Kestens (Belgian Partner) in 2011. Projects, one sponsored by UGC and another by Belspo could be complementary to each other and a plan for joint experimental set up can be easily established. Determination of texture for AA 7xxx alloys and related grain boundary rotation mechanisms after deformation perfectly joins the objective of both projects.

Continuous attachments through joint workshop, seminars, visits, setting joint experiments and exchange of ideas will set up a perfect platform for joint research proposals after accomplishment of the top up activity.

Starting with a short visit to Ghent University could open the scope for discussion for the entire planning the entire period of project. The joint program should start with a very basic workshop on Crystallography and Texture where Dr. Kestens along with Prof. R.K. Ray and another of renowned scientists in the field may contribute to a very attractive program. This program is especially intended for the students of different parts of India. Another seminar on Multiscale modelling of interface dominated materials will start building the like between the two projects operated by two partners. This will be beneficial for both partners. Students interested in working in this field of specialization may eventually visit either places. A proposal for two international conferences at either place will set up a level of international standard. The one on multilevel interactions between interfaces and deformation mechanisms through micromechanics based constitutive models will explore the possibility of interfacing the two projects from a modelling perspective. The final one on texture formation under different deformation modes will provide a platform for general perspective related with the projects. This kind of activity will be the first kind at BESU and, undoubtedly, it will be extremely beneficial for the entire student community.
