Projet de recherche PX/5B/SS/16 (Action de recherche PX)
The main goal of the present project is to re-process the Hipparcos Intermediate Astrometric Data (IAD) and Transit Data (TD) of red giant stars whose spectroscopic orbits became available after the NDAC and FAST consortia started their final reduction process leading to the published Hipparcos Catalogue.
A new code has been written to extract the astrometric parameters from the Transit Data or Intermediate Astrometric Data for binary systems with known spectroscopic elements (Pourbaix & Jorissen, 2000, A&AS 145, 161). This code has been applied to other data sets, namely the catalogue of spectroscopic binaries containing red giant stars (Boffin et al. 1983, A&A 271, 125 ; Pourbaix & Boffin, 2003, A&A 398, 1163), and to the star Procyon (Girard et al., Astron. J. 119, 2428).
The existence of the code developed within the framework of the present project has been widely advertised in the astronomical literature (as for example in the introductory section of the paper by Pourbaix & Jorissen, 2000) so that the community may benefit from the present efforts. As a consequence, our team acts as a kind of consulting desk to which the scientific community may ask the re-processing of Hipparcos data for specific objects.
