Description :

Our project presents technical and scientific issues. First, we propose to develop a method for producing bubbles in microgravity conditions. On earth, this setup should be useful in industrial foam tests requiring reproducible and adjustable conditions. The bubble size should be tuned. In addition, we propose to develop an optical diagnostic system that gives informations on the foam geometry (bubble size, number of bubble sides…) as well as on the thin film properties (thickness, mobility…). Such a characterization leads to a better understanding of the foam rheology and stability, both on earth and in low gravity environments. The addition of tracers will be also envisaged. Theoretical models and simulation tools could be corrected according to these observations.
