Development of the « occupational accidents » datawarehouse (AcciTrav)

Research project AG/HH/113 (Research action AG)

Persons :

Description :

The project aims to obtain better information on the various aspects of occupational accidents. This project is part of the Fonds des Accidents de Travail's general mandate, which is to contribute actively to ensuring the occupational accidents sector operates as well as possible. To this end, the project includes the design and creation of an "occupational accidents" data warehouse. This tool will allow, inter alia:

- better prevention of occupational accidents (through better knowledge about them);
- analysis of the extent to which the way the law on occupational accidents is applied responds to its objectives, i.e. the victim's recovery and return to work, and compensation of economic losses suffered by the victim;
- better decision-making in amending legislation pertaining to occupational accidents;
- statistics held by the FAT to be made available to public institutions, researchers and the general public (inter alia through the development of base applications directly accessible on the FAT's site).

To achieve this goal, the project aims further to develop the FAT's existing databases and also to examine what contributions from outside the institution could enrich the "occupational accidents" data warehouse on matters pertaining to the prevention and compensation of occupational accidents. Contributions from the "labour market" datawarehouse of the Crossroadsbank of the Social Seucrity, for example, will prove useful.
